Tier 1	The Tier 1 instance of NRS is responsible for distributing queries to the indexes residing on Tier 2 and aggregating the results. The Tier 1 server also handles all web page requests, user accounts, alerts, and crawling/indexing/merging of user listings. RECOMMENDED HARDWARE: 1GB RAM, 2 x 73GB 10,000RPM+ RAID 1 HD
Tier 2	Tier 2 servers typically hold 5 indexes, one on each harddrive. Each index is based on crawling and indexing select categories of a large web directory. Tier 2 servers only respond to search requests from Tier 1. RECOMMENDED HARDWARE: 1GB RAM, 5 x 73GB 10,000RPM+ GB HD
Tier 3	Tier 3 servers typically hold 10 indexes, five on each harddrive. Indexes are spidered in turn. Every couple of weeks indexes are reindexed and pushed to Tier 2. RECOMMENDED HARDWARE: 2GB RAM, 2 x 500 GB HD
