NRS Directory Overview
At the heart of NRS is a directory engine. A directory can feature millions of categories and links. Links can be spidered and indexed using rules specified in collections.
Links can also feature metadata such as name, company, address, etc... Metadata fields are searchable and sortable. Users can submit to the directory.
NRS is also a complete
Open Directory Project hosting solution. The
latest snapshot of the Open Directory can be imported
on an automated schedule from the RDF dumps available
at http://rdf.dmoz.org/rdf/.
All the functionality
of the ODP
site is provided and more.
NRS also lets you import/export directories
from an ODBC data source (supports MySQL and
SQL Server). This powerful feature lets you export
the directory data to your database of choice, manipulate
it, and re-import it providing complete flexibility.
If you have your own directory, you can import
it by mapping it to simple database tables. You can also import/export
to a CSV text file. Look no further than NRS for hosting your custom directory!
Why Use Us?
- NRS supports directories in conjunction with full-text search
- NRS directories support metadata
- NRS allows users to submit to the directory
- NRS provides all functionality provided by Open Directory.
- NRS hosts the directory instead of "leech" scripts that mirror DMOZ pages at a performance cost on your servers and those of DMOZ.
- The NRS solution is independent of the DMOZ servers. When their server is down (quite often!), your site is still up.
- Full internationalization support.
- Refine search by category helps you drill in to the right search result.
- Database SDK provides .NET tools for data access, as well as Java/C/Perl and command-line tools. ODBC directory import/export.

and indexing the Open Directory RDF data files.
User Listings
Users can create accounts and add/change/remove listings from the directory. The listings can be first reviewed by an editor, and then
approved, before going live. Users receive emails when they signup, get approved, etc...
